Learning And Assessment Software (LAAS) Help

The Learning And Assessment Software (LAAS) includes a learning and assessment engine and an author engine. Author engine module is used to create a centralized question database which can be populated and edited by various authors. Learning and assessment engine allows candidates to import tests/assessments, take the exam, and view results, import and view all the lessons provided.

  • Learning And Assessment Engine

    • Test/Assessment operations : Assessment engine allows user to add any number of test/assessment modules (exam database created using laas author engine). Each test module is treated as a separate exam and can be used independently.

      • Import Test Module (Local) : This section will provide a procedure to import a test/assessment module created using laas author engine into assessment engine.

      • Import Test Module (URL) : This section will provide a procedure to import test/assessment modules from a URL into assessment engine.

      • Updating Test Module : This option allows user to update a test/assessment module which was imported before.

      • Removing Test Module : This option allows user to remove a test/assessment module from assessment engine.

      • Candidate Login : Assessmet engine allows candidate to take exam using a username, results for each username can be viewed independently.

      • Modes : Assessment engine allows candidate to take test in two modes

        • Learn mode provides interactive learning environment where candidate can go through each question and view flash cards and correct answers for each question.

        • Exam mode simulates actual exam environment in which candidate needs to answer exam created by instructor in a given time without any help from flash cards.

      • Exam Screen : This section will describe how exactly the questions will be presented to candidate and the options available to help him take exam.

      • Question Types Supported : This section will show how various supported question types are displayed to candidate.

      • Grade Screen : This section will describe how the performance of the candidate will be shown at end of the exam.

      • Save Results and Review Question : At the end of each exam candidate is given an option to save the results, which can be reviewed later.

      • Customize Questions : This feature allows instructor to select specific categories (topics) for a exam. All the questions in the exam will appear only from selected categories.

      • Exam Configuration : This feature allows exam supervisor to set configuration options (number of questions per exam, exam time, pass percentage etc), allowed exam modes (learn, exam), permitted buttons (review, pause timer, bookmarking etc)

      • Exam Details : This feature allows instructor to view exam details like number of questions in exam, number of categories and subcategories.

      • Create new exam : This feature is used to create a new exam database for entering the question. (Please note only administrator can create a new exam).

      • Edit/delete exam : This feature is used to edit/delete a exam database. (Please note only administrator can edit/delete exam).

      • Populate exam : This feature is used to edit/delete a exam database. (Please note only administrator can edit/delete exam).

      • Add/edit/delete categories : This feature is used to enter various categories (topics) and sub categories (sub topics) covered in exam. Each question entered in database must belong to one category (topic) and a sub category (optional) under main category.

      • Add/insert questions : This feature is used to enter questions into the database.

      • Import questions : This feature is used to enter questions into the database using a excel document which contains all the questions required to be entered in a specific format.

      • Export questions : This feature can be used by Administrator and Authors to export existing questions to a excel file format.

      • Edit/delete questions : This feature is used to edit/delete existing questions in the database.

      • Delete duplicate questions : This feature is used to remove any duplicate questions present in the database.

      • Review questions : This option lists all the questions currently present in the database. This feature allows author to view all questions at once in a list and provides option to edit and delete a question by double clicking on question.

      • Preview questions : This option allows author to view the questions currently present in the database.

      • Exam configuration : This feature allows the author to set the parameters for the exam environment which will be created using this question database.

      • Create test module : This option is used to create Test Modules or sub tests from the main question database. This option is helpful to create multiple question sets from master question database.

      • Edit/delete test module : This option is used to edit/delete test modules.

      • Export exam/test module : This feature allows the author to export the question database to any known location.

      • Backup/Restore : This feature can be used by the administrators to take full backup of their work on LAAS software. This option will create and download a full backup file (.zip format) containing all details for all exams, candidates, groups.

      • Export to pdf : This feature allows the author to export all the questions of selected database to pdf file format.

      • Correct Paper Pen Exam : This feature allows the author to correct the answersheets submitted by candidates and assign marks to generate results.

    • Candidate Options

      • Add candidates(s) : This feature can be used by the author(s) to create any number of candidates which can take the exam. Each candidate will have a separate login using his/her email id and password. Candidates will be able to view only their own test results.

      • Edit/delete candidates : This feature can be used by author(s) to edit candidate details or deleting candidates.

      • Import candidate list : This feature can be used by author(s) to enter candidate details in bulk by using a excel file.

      • Add class(s) : This feature can be used by the author(s) to create any number of classes. This will help the exam instructor to arrange exam in batches.

      • Edit/delete class(s) : This feature can be used by author(s) to edit class details or deleting classes.

      • Assign exam to class : This feature can be used by the author(s) to link a class to an exam so that all the candidates present in that class can take the assigned exam.
